Paton Native Plant Food is a low-phosphorus organically based blend specially formulated for the requirements of a wide range of Australian native plants. It contains a complete range of essential nutrients and may be used with confidence in fertilizing the majority of Australian plants, including many of those that exhibit sensitivity to phosphorus.
Suitable For:
A broad range of Australian native plants including Banksias, Bottlebrush, Grevilleas, Waratahs, Gums, Figs, and some other phosphorus-sensitive plants such as some Proteas.
Best Time to Apply:
The fertilizer should be applied in late winter to early spring, again in mid-summer, with a light follow up application in mid-autumn, or more frequently as required.
How Much to Apply:
For clay soils, 75-100 grams per square metre should be applied.
Sandy soils will require lesser amounts of 50 grams per square metre but with more frequent applications. The suggested frequency for sandy soil is four times a year, in late July to mid-August, mid-October, mid-December and mid-March. Always water well after application.
N.B. One measure (25ml) holds approximately 25 grams.
Precautions:
Do not exceed the recommended dosage rates, as excessive fertilizer use is both harmful to plants and the environment. Some plants are extremely sensitive to phosphorus. Plants such as Eriostemon, Crowea and some of the Grevilleas may react badly to any phosphorus at all. If in doubt, consult your local nursery for advice prior to fertilizing.
Important Note: The 5 kg Size Bag size comes in a clear plastic bag with no label information. It comes only with a generic tag to help identify it.
