Q. What size feeder would you recommended for 3 backyard chooks?
A. There is no ideal size, but 2 factors to consider when picking a size are, will it fit nicely in the coop without taking up too much space and how often you would like to refill the feeder? Adult chickens eat about 400g of feed a day and some feed will also be wasted. For simplicities sake, lets just say that 500g of feed is used per day, therefore your 3 chooks would use about 1.5kg per day or 10.5kg per week. If you got a 12 kg feeder, you would most likely have to re-fill the feeder once per week.
