Or Alternatively, you could use a spot applicator to apply some weedkiller on the Kikuyu grass, being sure to avoid touching the couch grass.

Q. How do you kill wintergrass in Kikuyu lawn?
A. As far as I know, there is no known chemical spray that can kill the Wintergrass without hurting the Kikuyu lawn. After looking online most websites generally offer the following kind of advice.
You have a couple of options of ridding your lawn of wintergrass. You could use the wintergrass killer now and kill off the wintergrass (and the Kikuyu), then in three months time, oversow the area with Kikuyu seed. (It will take the winter grass approximately 60 days to die.)
Or in spring, you could selectively apply weed killer to the wintergrass then oversow the bare patches with Kikuyu or alternative seed. Glyphosate weed killer acts more quickly than winter grass killer but you must wait for the weeds to die down totally before oversowing.
