Multicote 8 month Controlled Release 25 kg (REPLACED)

30610

SEE ALTERNATIVES BELOW. Releases nutrients at a rate that matches the plant requirements right throughout a season. ie releases more nutrients during warmer periods when plants need it and releases less during the colder periods.

Multicote 8 month Controlled Release. (N18 – P3– K10 + Trace Elements 8-month release granular fertiliser.)

When conventional soluble fertilizers are applied to the soil, the plant only consumes a fraction of the nutrients. Leaching, evaporation and other processes cause substantial losses.
Also, most of the nutrients are released from conventional fertilizers immediately after application, leading to the risk of salt damage followed by starvation in mid-season.
Multicote fertilizers not only minimize nutrient losses, they also release nutrients at a rate that matches the plant requirements right throughout a season.
A single application of Multicote will ensure proper nutrient levels in the soil throughout the growing cycle, without risk of salt injuries.

>>How Multicote Works

Multicote fertilizers consist of high-quality nutrients in granular form encapsulated in a polymeric coating. As soon as the granules come into contact with moisture in the medium (above 25% w/w), they begin to absorb water vapour through microscopic pores in the coating. This gradually dissolves the nutrient content, which then
diffuses slowly and continuously into the root zone of the plant.

>> Release controlling factors

The release rate is controlled by the soil temperature, which determines the rate of water vapour penetration and fertilizer diffusion. As the temperature rises, both the release rate and the rate of nutrient uptake by plants increase. Soil type, water content, soil pH, and microbial activity do not affect the release rate.

>>How To Apply Mulitcote

Pots, hanging baskets and containers.

• Mixing granules with the potting soil prior to planting will produce
the most even distribution.
• In existing pots, apply Multicote by dibbling: drill 3-4 holes
around the stem, about 5cm deep and 3cm away from the stem.
Apply Multicote into the holes, and cover.
• If the container’s volume exceeds 200 litres, apply Multicote only
in the upper third of the container.

Open field and garden application.

• To ensure direct contact with humid soil, Multicote should be
mixed with the top layer.
• If drip irrigation is practised, incorporate Multicote under the
dripper.
• When planting new trees, apply Multicote in the planting hole.
• Multicote can be applied on the topsoil where overhead irrigation
is practised, or during rainy seasons. In such a case, increase
the application rate by 20%, and apply Multicote within the area
shaded by the trees/vegetation.

>> Setting Application Rates

The range of recommended application rates should be regarded as
a guideline based on average conditions. The appropriate
application rate depends largely on plant type and size, growing
medium and growing environment.

Use lower rates of Multicote when:

• The average soil temperature exceeds 30°C
(decrease rate by 20%)
• Using in combination with liquid fertilisers
(decrease rate by 50%)
• Applying on salt-sensitive plants
• The water capacity of the growing medium is high
(e.g. peat, coir)
• A capillary irrigation system is being used.
Use higher rates of Multicote when:
• The average soil temperature drops below 10°C
(increase rate by 20%)
• Applying on plants with high nutritional requirements;
• The water capacity of the growing medium is poor
(e.g. coarse bark)
• The growing medium is leached due to irrigation or frequent
rainfall.
