The food in this type of feeder is only available when poultry stand on the step plate. The feeder shutter then opens and the feed is available. This prevents access and contamination by birds and vermin.

NOTE: This new model has now been updated. It can now be set to a different setting to allow larger types of feed to flow better. Some older reviews mention this problem but it has now been resolved.
The food in this type of feeder is only available when poultry stands on the step plate. The feeder shutter then opens and the feed is available. This prevents access and contamination by birds and vermin. This is all activated by the weight of the bird - which can be set from 250gm to 5kg. The feed chamber has space-dividers to keep birds from competing with each other. An anti-spill lip to prevent fall-out of feed. The feeder is completely weatherproof. All zinc-plated with glass-nylon lid and step plate. Needs minor assembly on receipt. Instructions included. From Europe.

Holds good volume, reasonable strong construction. Easy for chickens to use. Agree with other review - the gap seems a bit small so some scratch layer mixes with large seeds or big pellets struggle to feed/ fall evenly in this unit. :-( Chooks were VERY grumpy when a little bit of rain somehow got in and swelled some of the feed so it wouldn't fall through properly.) Great for smaller feed and if kept under cover

This feeder only has a 9mm gap for the feed to fall through and no adjustment. Feed with corn and sunflower seeds or micro pellets molassas or oil seems to get stuck.
