Sulphur

Sulphur is a renowned and popular fungicide and miticide for plants. The most popular form of sulphur for use as a fungicide is wettable sulphur. It's a brown/yellow powder that is mixed at a specific dose with water and sprayed on plants. This is not to be confused with elemental sulphur powder, which is bright yellow in colour and is better suited to being applied as a dry vegetable or plant dust. Elemental sulphur can be mixed with water and sprayed, but it doesn't dilute in water as well as wettable sulphur does.

Wettable Sulphur: This yellowish-brown powder is diluted in water and applied as a spray to crops. It has 800 g/kg of sulphur and is used to manage various fungal diseases including powdery mildew, rust, brown rot, black spot, and mites in grapevines, pome and stone fruits, and vegetables. It also treats powdery mildew and two-spotted mites in ornamental plants, as well as mites in citrus, grapevines, and vegetables.

Lime Sulphur: Is produced by boiling elemental sulphur with hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide). The reaction of this combination produces the active ingredient polysulfide sulphur. Can be used to treat scales, mites, fungal spores (e.g., peach leaf curl, rust, powdery mildew).  Sulphur is quite a strong and caustic liquid that is best used in colder periods or when plants are dormant. It can damage leaves or buds if applied during active growth or in high heat.

Sulphur Dust (per kg): This is our most popular sulphur powder, consisting of 99.9% pure fine yellow dust, offered in a range of budget-friendly sizes from 1 kg to 25 kg. Its vivid yellow appearance makes it easily recognisable, and it serves many purposes. It’s commonly used to acidify soil or as a plant fungicide and insecticide. When used on plants, it’s typically applied as a vegetable dust and works by damaging the waxy coating that protects soft-bodied pests such as mites, aphids, thrips, whiteflies, and certain beetle larvae. It can also be used to help manage mites in poultry and some internal parasites in livestock. Additionally, it’s effective for correcting sulphur deficiencies in soil, which may lead to symptoms like yellowing leaves and curling foliage.
