More Info:

Husher is a very simple but effective training aid. It is made from stretchable elastic with webbing around the elastic to limit the expansion of the dogs' snout. The elastic exerts a firm yet humane pressure around the snout, similar to that applied by a canine pack leader to maintain dominance.

When pressure is applied around their snout, the controlled expansion of Husher tires the muscles very easily. After a few short barks, the dog finds it easier and less tiresome not to exhibit nuisance behaviour. This amount of pressure still allows your pet to breathe (both front and back of the mouth), pant, drink and eat with ease. The neck strap is attached at three points which makes it very difficult for the dog to dislodge. The straps are attached to a buckle which clips at the back of the animals' head.

About The Husher:

Recommended by Pet Owners, Breeders, Veterinarians, Trainers and Animal Control Officers, The Husher Training Aid is a 100% humane way to control all types of unwanted barking. Designed by Paul & Sandy Paglericcio in Ontario Canada, Husher was given The Manning Award of "The Honourable Ernest C.Manning'' for innovation in creating a humane device that can control nuisance barking, chewing, biting and aggression.

Selecting the right size for your dog

Husher comes in a range of sizes to fit all sizes and breeds of dogs. To find the right size for your dog you will need to take some simple measurements and compare them to the Husher sizing chart below.

Step 1. Using a piece of string, measure the circumference of your dog's snout by starting from the bridge of the snout and taking the string around your dog's mouth finishing back at the bridge. Next, measure the bridge length (Diagram on box)

Step 2. Check the sizing chart and compare the measurements you have taken against the sizing chart to select the correct size of Husher for your dog.

Fitting Husher to your dog

Step 1. Identify the top side of the Husher for correct fitting. The top side has the word 'Husher' branded on it for easy identification. Slide Husher top side up, over your dog's snout so that it fits snugly. If it is difficult to fit, you should consider the next size up if it is too tight, or the next size down if too loose. An incorrectly fitted or wrong sized Husher will not change the unwanted behaviours of your dog. It is very important the correct size is used otherwise your dog may not be able to pant, drink or eat. Husher has the black elastic at the top which is slightly cut back so that it won't rub up against your dog's face.

Step 2. Fasten the buckle together behind your dog's neck and tighten the strap so that it is firm, but not overly tight. If you find that after pulling the strap tight your dog still removed Husher, then try wrapping the strap once around your dog's collar before you snap the buckle together.

Training your dog with Husher

To get your dog used to wearing Husher, leave it on for two minutes, remove and then repeat several times. The time and frequency Husher is used should be gradually increased until your dog accepts it. Once your dog is comfortable wearing Husher, you can begin to train and modify their unwanted behaviour. Teach your dog a moderate verbal "hush'' command when wearing Husher or displaying unwanted behaviour. If you find that your dog continues to bark or struggle whilst wearing Husher, then try distracting them during the process by either playing with them or taking them for a walk. Don't forget to praise and reward your pet when it behaves properly. Positive reinforcement is a good thing.
